Jungle Brew Herbal Combination (new for 2010) is designed as a strong anti-viral for chronic hepatitis. It also lowers blood pressure and blood sugar and has an anti-inflammatory action.

Ingredients: Phyllanathus niruri, Uncaria tomentosa, Dracontium loretense,  Hesmidesmus indicus, Silybum marianum, Lonicera japonica, Glycyrrhiza glabra.

Dosage and Use: Simmer one (1) rounded teaspoon of Jungle Brew Herbal Combination in two (2) cups of water for seven (7) minutes at a low temperature. Drink once or twice a day. Cooked herbs can be stored in the fridge and simmered in water a second time. Increase or decrease the amount of herbs or water to get the right taste for you.

Time of Day: Once or twice daily, any time.

Quantity Needed for One-Month Supply: 1 or 2 packages, according to frequency of daily use.

Cautions: Do not use this mixture if you are pregnant, nursing, or trying to get pregnant. Both Uncaria (Cat’s Claw) and Phyllanthus (Chanca Piedra) can have an anti-fertility effect.  Diabetics and those with low blood sugar may find that this formula lowers blood sugar and may need to refine their protocols. This mixture can also lower blood pressure, though we have balanced that action by adding in Glycyrrhiza glabra (Licorice Root).  For those with high blood pressure request no Licorice in your formula.

What it Does/How it Works:

At Alchemist Lab, we were prompted to create this unique herbal formulation after learning of reports of good success in the use of high dosages of Chanca Piedra (Phyllanthus) from southern India in the treatment of Hepatitis C. Studies indicate that Chanca Piedra blocks DNA polymerase, which viruses need for replication. Chanca Piedra also has a strong protective virtue for the liver, as well as extending lifespan in cases of liver cancer.

Uncaria Tomentosa (Cat’s Claw) is a rainforest herb (from the tropical vine with a talismanic past, typical of anti-infectives such as garlic. Named for it’s long curving thorns, Cat’s Claw is used in the treatment of many infections including Lyme disease, hepatitis, arthritis and rheumatic complaints, and also has immune-boosting properties

Dracontium Loretense is used traditionally to treat hepatitis in addition to other infective diseases. Because there’s is a limited supply of that herb  in the wild, it is now being grown on an organic farm in Peru, and is just now becoming more broadly available.

Hemidesmus indicus or Indian Sarasparilla is one of the favorite herbs at the Dragon Heart Clinic. Not only is it powerful medicinally, but it tastes fabulous, as evidenced by its long-time use in root beer. Sarasparilla is a strong blood purifier with a liver protectant quality. In the United States, it was used historically to treat syphilis.

Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle Bud) is another Dragon Heart Clinic favorite. Botanically, Honeysuckle vines and shrubs and their often fragrant flowers are related to elderberry . Honeysuckle flowers, flower buds and stems are used for their medicinal properties around the world. Honeysuckle is useful in the treatment  of a wide array of infections, including having been used as a treatment during the recent SARS epidemic in China. It is also one of the original Bach Flower Essences, useful for people who dwell in the past and are pessimistic of the future. Honeysuckle is another one of our good-tasting medicinal herbs that helps to make this Jungle Brew Herbal Combination a pleasant-tasting formula – something we take pride in at Alchemist Lab.

Silybum Marianum (Milk Thistle Seed) is included in this herbal formula because of its regenerative properties for the liver.

Glycyrrhiza glabra (Licorice Root) has many actions.  We include it in this formula as it can lower liver enzymes, it tastes good and it moderates the blood pressure lowering action of this mixture.

In total, Jungle Brew Herbal Combination has a strong anti-infective profile targeting hepatitis. It should also lowers blood pressure, and helps in the treatment of joint problems.
